Enterprises around the world are continually facing new threats, many times on a daily basis. These threats can come from a wide variety of places, such as data leaks, viruses, hacks, and so on. Vulnerabilities can be tough to track across and infrastructure, which is why having the best tools at one's disposal is key. IBM has released a system which if it can do what they claim, could be a game changer.
IBM's new appliance is called, IBM Network Intrusion Protection System (IPS) GX7800. It boasts speeds unseen by competitor products, and a full range of security features.
Steve Robinson, general manager, IBM Security Solutions said this of the product, "As threats continue to grow -- both in and outside of an organizations four walls -- businesses must take the right steps to protect critical assets without disrupting network performance."
"With the new appliance, IBM is helping enterprise clients operate their business at full speed, in a secure and efficient environment."
Here's a list of features for the GX7800:
* Operates at an estimated 20 gigabits per second (GBps), almost 2x faster than competitive offerings(1);
* Provides organizations with a full scope of security protection -- such as Web application protection -- without disrupting network performance;
* Extends to the cloud to protect data; and
* Uses IBM X-Force intelligence to help clients stay ahead of the threat.
For businesses who can't compromise on security, this product is definitely worth looking into. The price is a bit hefty, but the guarantees towards safety makes the price tag worth it.
The system supports 10-gigabit ethernet networks, which comes with a thorough inspection engine.
Along with intra-enterprise security, the system will reach out to the cloud as well. For many this is just as important as the other features, as customer security can make or break a business online.
